Oswestry GC 'Warm-up' Event
Our sparkling new Vice-Skipper, Mr. John Roche, has booked an initial 'warm-up' Event at the tremendous Oswestry Golf Club on Sunday March 23rd 2025.
6 Tees have been booked from 11.00 a.m. at a cost of £35 per person, including a coffee and bacon butty beforehand.
The Event will be strictly limited to a maximum of 24 Attendees, so get your name down asap.
The first 24 members who confirm attendance and pay the £35 into the Society Account will have their names added here...

It was proposed and accepted that the membership fee for 2025 will be £25.

Captain's Day, Eastham Lodge GC, 13th October 2024
And so, Captain McNally's year as our glorious leader drew to a close on a bright, brisk Autumnal day with his Captain's Day at Eastham Lodge Golf Club to round off the 2024 season. A solid group of 18 dedicated swishers teed up to compete for the traditional MellWood Memorial Shield, plus a choice bottle of Jamesons, provided by our outgoing Skipper, and the day was contested keenly as always.
In 3rd place was Andy Fitz with 36 points, whilst runner up on 38 points was the man of the moment, Captain Mac himself, but our 2024 Captain's Day winner scoring a magical 40 points, and claiming the remains of the Memorial Shield after it self destructed during the presentation, was our lovable Geordie, Mike Towell. Fantastic performance, well done Mike!
4 out of 5 NTPs were won by Jason Jones, Andy Fitz, Gary Chappo and Colin Newall, with the proceeds from the remaining unclaimed NTP added to the Captain's Charity collection. A couple of deuces were holed out by Fitzy and Mike Towell as well.
Gertie Goose wasn't on show as she's having the time of her life putting her webbed feet up at Al Dennis's Care Home for Aging Honkers for the Winter, but Captain McNally contributed an appropriate book entitled '501 Excuses For A Bad Golf Shot' for the lowest scorer.
Our first time and youngest ever Guest, Charlie Fitz, made a gallant bid for which he received a mini Gertie, but, as was our Skipper's privilege on his final outing, Charlie was excused the formal Goose position and Captain McNally nominated the official Captain's Day Goose as being the returning hero, 'Our' Carl Ambrose, thanks to his return of 25 points!
Talking of which, huge thanks to all for contributing a tidy sum on the day, plus during the weekend away, towards the Captain's nominated charity, The Alzheimer's Society, providing vital support and advice for anyone diagnosed with dementia, well done everyone.
