Mossock Hall, June 30th 2019

A sunny, breezy day with the course well set up for their own Club Championship, made Mossock Hall a stern test.

Once again we had a great turnout of 22, but with just one score over 30 underlining the course difficulty on the day.

At the top, John Robinson carded an excellent 32 as his third 'card in' before gaining full Membership, Graham Leasor's guest, Dave Obby scored a decent 29, but the Event Winner with 28 points was Martin Booth, great steady score Martin, definitely kept his head whilst all around were losing theirs (and many a ball as well!)

NTPs at £15 each were spread between Bob Stewart, guest Colin Wilson and the Society's own Secretary and Lazarus, John Doyle, great to see you back Doyley. There was also just one 2 this time going to our Captain, Mr. John Chapman.

The glory of the Goose could have gone anywhere given the conditions, but this month's recipient of our plastic poultry, along with a unique commemorative Wedgewood Toast Rack, personally engraved by that bloke what does the Claret Jug, with a score of 12 points was Colin 'Toddy' Hodson

Ashton-In-Makerfield, May 19th 2019

Another cracking course and perfect golfing weather too at Ashton-In-Makerfield.

A decent turnout once again with a 22 strong field this time around and scoring wasn't bad either, with 9 cards of 30 points or more.

It was tight at the top with Josh Watmough returning 34 and Danny Parr 35, but the winner with a brilliant 36 points, playing off a very unforgiving Handicap of 4, was Shaun Johnson. Exhibition stuff that Shaun, well in!

Colin 'Toddy' Hodson walked away a few bob richer after getting two of the NTPs, with Danny pocketing the winnings for the third. There were also a number of 2s going to Toddy, Shaun, Colin Newall and Andy Miller, so Benno was relieved of quite a number of his prize balls, missus...

It was a close-run competition for our wonderful Goose, totting up the scores was more exciting than the Eurovision Song Contest, but the UK contestant who was Bigger Than Us and bottom of the pile, on dix-huit (18 points), for the second month running was Carl Ambrose, who had nipped off early to avoid facing the Press.

LEIGH, APRIL 28TH 2019

An enjoyable day at what was a thoroughly decent course was had by all, Storm Hannah hadn't left too much of a mark, couple of pools of casual water only, thumbs up all round to Doyley for picking this one!

We had another decent turnout of 21 souls but scoring was quite modest with only two scores of 30 or more, our Captain, John Chapman scoring 30 to run second only to a very good knock from our winner this time around, Mark McNally, who carded 32.

Well done Mark!

NTPs went to Carl Ambrose, John Roche (10" from the cup!) and Andy Fitz.

Our glorious Goose (along with a game of Potty Putting which he proceeded to play in the bar) this time went to Carl as well with a score of 20.
