Perfect golfing conditions greeted our 24 strong party at wonderful, wonderful Wrexham GC, where we always receive croeso cynnes (a warm welcome!). The course was also in fabulous condition too.
Scoring was quite spread out, with 6 returned scores of 30 points or more, but also 9+ scores of 25 points or less, although a couple were due to early baths for a couple of members due to ill health and injury, get well soon guys.
Right, so in 3rd spot was the evergreen Mr Bob Sneddon with an excellent 37 points, runner-up dressed all in green was Vice Skipper, Mr Mark McNally with 38 points, however, making us all green with envy, with his maiden victory, was Mr Mark Lewis with a superb total of 39 points. Brilliant stuff, well done Mark!!
NTPs were won by Phil Hodgkiss, Skipper Fitzy, Mike Towell & Jeff Burgess, and this Event's Captain's Draw cash prize went to Mark McNally for scoring a fabulous 16 points on the six highest Stroke Index holes. 2s were also scored by Mark Lewis (with a 'ferret') and Bob Sneddon (with a 'golden ferret'!)
And finally, on a day when the Aussies cheated their way to a second Test victory in the Ashes series, our polycarbonate poultry, was presented to a true English cricketing legend and gentleman, Mr Gary Chapman, who received Gertie Goose with grace, humility and barely half a dozen eff words, thanks to an amazing score of 17 points not out.

Pheweee, what a scorcher! On a marvellous, warm, sunny day at Ashton-in-Makerfield GC, the heady scent of Ambre Solaire Factor 50 surrounded our sweaty group of 19 participants on the first tee.
The course was unanimously applauded by all and yielded some excellent scoring (mostly...) with 12 scores of 30 points or more!
3rd spot was shared jointly by Jeff Burgess and Gary Chapman with returns of 37 points, however, they were both beaten by Bob Stewart and Colin Newall with a superb total of 39 points apiece. Without facilities for a penalty shoot-out, the winner was the player with the better back 9 score, which placed our 2021 Champion golfer, Mr. Colin Newall, in top spot. Nice one Col!!
NTPs were won by Danny Parr and guest, Jimmy Dumbell (shared), Colin Newall and John Doyle, and this Event's Captain's Draw cash prize went to Paul Towers for scoring a fabulous 16 points on the six lowest Stroke Index holes.
And finally, on a day of footballing and golfing miracles, and received with rapturous applause by all in attendance (and at Goodison Park too) Gertie Goose was presented to the Ginger Ninja himself, Shaun Johnston thanks to a score of 20 points.

Don't shoot the messenger!!!!
Following the Leigh presentations, the Handicap Committee met to discuss and review all Handicaps.
Their review across the entire Membership concluded that, in light of a general lowering of Total Stableford Score Totals being submitted, Handicaps would be adjusted upwards, as follows:-
Handicaps 1-9 +1, Handicaps 10-18 +2 and Handicaps 19-28 +3 up to a maximum of 28 in accordance with our Society's Constitution maximum.
Members with just one card submitted to date will have a Handicap review once a second card has been submitted.
Adjustments to take place with immediate effect.
The damp, drizzly weather did little to dampen the hearts of our brave group of 23 swishers at a soggy Leigh GC, and not even the national Emergency Alert Test could put us off! Let Putin shove his nuclear threats where Paddy McGinty stuck his ninepence!!
Right, on a fun filled day, the scores on the doors were, in 3rd spot, a hungover John Chapman with 27 points, in 2nd spot, the mighty Captain Fitz with 28 points, but, also on 28 points with a superior back 9 score was our wonderful Society Secretary, the man with the bionic knee, Mr. John Doyle. Brilliant to see you back in the winners circle John!!
NTPs were won by Captain Fitzy (again), John Chappo (again) and Phil Hodgkiss, with one Par 3 being missed by us all! More importantly though, our newly instigated Captain's Draw cash prize went to Al Dennis for scoring a whopping 12 points on the six highest Stroke Index holes...Get in!!!
And finally, it was a Goosey Groundhog Day for our newest Dad, as Gertie returned home to roost with poor sleep deprived Colin Lewis thanks to a poultry 16 points total (see what I did there...oh please yourself!)
