What a fabulous course this was for our happy group of 17 hopefuls to enjoy, in brilliant nick, and the weather was just perfect too.
Decent scoring saw a flurry of scores over the 30 points barrier, including 3 scores of 32 points from Mark McNally, Colin Lewis and John Chappo, plus the Skipper with 33 points, but with his maiden victory in the Society was Colin 'Toddy' Hodson, with an excellent 35 points. Congratulations Toddy!
NTPs were ironically won by the Society's two Flagstick models. Mr. Par 3, Bob Stewart won two of them to leave with the day having paid for itself, whilst Colin Lewis bagged the third, hopefully to spend on a 3 course meal!
John Chappo meantime took bragging rights for being the only bagger of a 2 this time round.
Our wonderful secretary, Mr. John Doyle just can't bear to be without our beloved Gertie Goose, and notwithstanding a couple of close contenders, he left with her tucked under his arm, with his head held high wearing his prize novelty Putting Green Tam-o-shanter.
Finally, a warmest of welcomes to our newest member, Alfie Parle, great to have you on board.

Our long, long awaited return to the fairways finally arrived at a very blustery, but picturesque Antrobus GC, giving our 20 strong group of sturdy golfing heroes a tough welcome back...
It was tight at the top with Bob Stewart, Les Hornby and Colin Newell all returning a very creditable score of 32 points. However, the master of the blowy conditions was Mark McNally with an excellent final total of 34 points. Congratulations to Mark!
The four NTPs were won by Bob Stewart, John Chapman, Colin Newell and our new Vice-cap, Darren White, whilst there was just one 2 on the day, going to Carl Ambrose.
It was the usual close-run scramble for our wonderful Gertie Goose, with Chris Sullivan, Toddy Hodson and Peter Batey all carding 16 points and then scarpering to avoid possibly facing the media, but they needn't have worried, as our beloved Secretary, Mr. John Doyle just couldn't bear to be parted from our plastic Goosey Goddess, as he scored 15 points to ensure she returned back home with him to her roost at Chez Doyley.
Finally, a warmest of welcomes to new members Peter Batey and Jon Rutland, as well as to Tony Moran and Jeff Burgess, who guested with us and were both enticed into joining our merry band.
It's brilliant to be back!!!

How do chaps, trust you're all polishing your niblicks in readiness for the very long awaited new Season!
With our first Event at Antrobus less than 2 weeks away, for your information, the 2021 Division Membership split is proposed as follows:
DIVISION 1
Alan Dennis, John Doyle, Andy Fitzpatrick, Bob Stewart, Chris Sullivan, Colin Newell, Gary Chapman, Ian Stevenson, John Chapman, Peter Moffat, Les Hornby, Dave Obermuller, Danny Parr (13 Members)
DIVISION 2
Bob Sneddon, Carl Ambrose, Colin Hodson, Colin Lewis, Darren White, Graham Leasor, John Robinson, John Roche, Jon Rutland, Mark McNally, Peter Batey, Sean Ellis (12 Members)
We've had to tweak the promotions from Division 2 a bit due to the departure of a couple of Members, and there are also a couple of potential additional new Members in the wings, who will automatically join Division 2 and bolster numbers, so we are hopeful that the total Membership will creep up to 30 again, which is our target.
Good luck to everyone for the Season ahead, let's have as many of you as possible at each Event to make it a memorable year and get a bit of positivity back after the trials and tribulations of the last year or so.
OK folks, Mr. Doyle has only gone and done it, we now have the replacement Event for Leasowe booked in for the Society, at Lee Park on Sunday July 18th, see the Events section for all details.
This means that we now have a full compliment of 6 Events for 2021 booked in, thanks to the tireless work of J.D., well done Doyley, brilliant stuff, so we can therefore look forward to the 2021 season in full!
All we need now is to swing the rust off, get Gertie Goose vaccinated, and we're away.
