Didn't we have a luvverly time, the day we went to Chester!
A bright and breezy day for our final Event of the Season was enjoyed by all. As usual, it was a full day with a 9 Hole Texas Scramble in the morning, full 18 in the afternoon spiced up with the dreaded Yellow Ball mini-competition, and of course the final push for the two Divisional titles.
The day was won by Shaun Johnson with a brilliant 36 playing off an extremely tough Handicap of 3 along with the annual Memorial Shield which held added poignancy this year with the loss of our original well loved Captain, Joe Russell.
The three NTPs at £15 each were spread between Danny Parr, Andy Miller and Les Hornby, and there was just the one 2 this time going to Dave Obby.
And finally, our beloved Golfing Gander, Gertie will get to spend a very worrying Christmas with a beaming John Doyle watching the classic movie 'Duck, Duck, Goose!' whilst sharing a sleeve of chocolate balls, thanks to his returned score of 17 Points.
Right fellahs, here are the dates and courses for your diary for next year that Doyley has booked for us:
Some excellent choices there we hope you agree.
Further details of tee times, etc will be posted on the Website at the end of this Season.
A great last minute replacement Event at Lee Park thanks to the negotiation expertise of Mr. Doyle...maybe we should get him to sort Brexit out for us too!
Keeping up the decent turnout numbers, there were 20 hopefuls all swishing away with their practice swings on the first tee turning it into a temporary eco wind farm.
Anyhow, under the grey skies, there were some good scores returned, a couple of 31s from Graham Leasor and Carl Ambrose, 32 from our Captain, JC, but blowing everyone else away at the top, as well as being the winner of this year's Captain's prize of a £50 Voucher for American Golf kindly donated by Captain JC, was Danny Parr with an excellent 35 points. Nice one Danny!
The traditional NTPs at £15 each were spread between Mr. Doyle, Chris Sullivan and John Robinson, and there were also a load of 2s this time wiping out the golf balls stash, going to Bobby Stewart, Danny Parr, Doyley, Chris Sullivan and two 2s from Captain JC as well!
As proof that our fake farmyard fowl can end up in anyone's hands, this month's recipient of Gertie Goose, along with a bag of goodies including the classic novel for 3-5 year olds, 'Goose on the Loose' and a sleeve of chocolate golf balls to enjoy whilst reading it, with a score of 18 points, was the winner of the Season's first Event, Paul Mellor.
