Our wonderful Skipper, Daz, had his Captain's Day in the Autumn sunshine at Eastham Lodge Golf Club rounding off a brilliant 2022 season.
A solid turn out of 20 hopeful hackers turned out to compete for the Mellwood Memorial Shield, plus the Captain's Day Trophy and the day was contested extremely closely as everyone struggled a little in the soggy conditions after the recent rain
In 3rd place on 26 points, thanks to a best back 9 countback was John Doyle, whilst runner up on 28 points was Sean Ellis, but our 2022 Captain's Day winner on 30 points, was Mark McNally. Well done to Mark, a fine win for our 2023 Vice-Captain-in-waiting.
Gertie Goose wasn't on show as she's got her webbed feet up in front of Stevo's Log Burner for the Winter, but Daz contributed a goosey mug and mini-Gertie for the lowest score, which unfortunately turned out to be himself, thanks to a whopping 17 points! However, Vice-Captain Fitzy eased his pain with some goodies including a couple of bottles of vino collapso and Daz's favourite cheesecake!!
20 Quid NTPs were also up for grabs and were won by Eddie Murray, Sean Ellis and Fitzy.
And finally, many thanks to all for contributing a tidy sum of around £200 towards the Captain's nominated charity, Stick 'n Step, supporting children with cerebral palsy, a cause close to Daz's heart, well done everyone.

Special thanks to George Stewart who does a lot of work to enable the weekend runs smoothly, people like him are invaluable in making the weekend run’s smoothly
Well, what a wonderful whirlwind of a weekend Worsley was!
The venue, the accommodation and the food (especially the cheesecake...) was top notch and the course was an absolute cracker, even the weather played ball and, as ever, the company was just brilliant (the booze discount definitely got an absolute hammering!)
A monumental round of thanks goes to John Doyle for organising the weekend and particularly in liaising and negotiating with Worsley over them muddling up tee time bookings, etc. What a star! An additional vote of thanks is due as well to John Chapman and Graham Donnelly for organising the order of play, the draw, and generally organising yet another highly successful Society weekend.
Well done to everyone who picked up the NTP winnings, and special mention for 'our' Carl Ambrose who won the Saturday Stableford Comp and 'Fast' Eddie Murray and Graham Don for retaining their Sunday Pairs Comp crown.
